“Purple Hearts” are a team of West Aussie women raising vital funds for medical research into women’s cancers at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. The Perkins Institute is Perth’s premier medical research institute for adult diseases.
Their team name, based on the US Military Medal the “Purple Heart”, is to honour all those who are affected by cancer, and especially those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
Over the last three years the Purple Hearts team have raised more than $150K for women’s cancers research at the Perkins Institute. In March of 2015 and 2016 they held their highly successful “Purple Hearts Ball” to not only raise much-needed dollars to conquer cancer, but also raise awareness about their cause. In 2016, our brand founder, Patricia, joined the team to participate in the Hawaiian Walk for Women's Cancer and help raise vital funds for the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.
All members of the Purple Hearts team are passionate about supporting vital medical research at the Perkins to stop these devastating diseases in their tracks.
“Medical research is about hope and positively impacting future generations.”
“We think that those who face a cancer diagnosis are incredibly courageous. We know that walking 35km is a drop in the ocean in comparison.”
“At the Perkins they are striving to find more effective treatments for women’s cancers, with lesser side effects. They are also researching for earlier detection methods, and ultimately preventions.”
We are very excited to have joined forces with this team of passionate women, to do our part in helping to raise money for the vital research being carried out at Harry Perkins.
We are committed to donating $5 AU from the sale of every Reptile Print Vest and our Slim n Sleek tights and now all shoes, to the Harry Perkins Institute. Moving forward, all of our new collections will be included in this ongoing project. If you would like to donate to the cause or join us on the walk we would love to hear from you.
